Some of the well-known civilizations of the world used this field extensively. For example, the ancient Chinese civilization, the Egyptian civilization, the ancient Indian civilization, etc all practiced astrology at some point or the other. Arabs too practiced Astrology before the advent of Islam.
The ancient Babylonians were probably the first to use Astrology. After that this science moved to countries like China and India. Greek astronomer Ptolemy was the first ever person to write a book on Astrology. He codified the sun sign astrology that we know today. Ptolemy tried to predict the positions of celestial bodies relative to each other and the earth through knowledge of their orbital motions.
During his time, astrology was a part of astronomy. Later, astronomy became an exact science and Astrology remained a part of Theology. Planetary observation is the basis of Astrology.
History of Astrology is an important part of civilization and goes back to the early days of the human race. Apart from being centers of learning in medicine, Baghdad and Damascus were also known as centers of astrology and astronomy. Arabs were pioneers in astronomy before the advent of Islam. The Babylonians were the first to name the days of the week after the Sun, Moon, and planets.
They were also the first to set out the twelve houses of the horoscope. Egypt was one of the most important places in the development of astrology. It is thought that some of the astrological signs of the zodiac originated in Egypt.
Astrology was practiced even in the Vedic times in India. Astrology is one of the six disciplines of vedanga. The Hindus believe that human fortune or misfortune in life is due to karma, and karma is believed to be influenced by the movements of the planets. Among the Hindus, Brahmins are considered to be the best authorities on astrology. In Modern India too, astrology is extensively used to determine the future and improve life. Astrology is studied and practiced by many in India.
It is regarded as vital in Indian culture. It is used to make decisions about marriage, starting of new business, and moving into a new house etc. Ancient Hindu Scriptures too gives a lot of importance to the various aspects of planetary motions and its effects on humans. Chinese astrology stresses on the five elements, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Even the zodiac signs used by them are also different from other forms of astrology. China was isolated from the western for a long time.
That is why Chinese astrology was unknown to the western world. As Chinese astrology developed independently, a lot of difference can be seen between the western concepts of astrology and the Chinese version.
But the Chinese and Indian astrologers were in touch every now and then. Therefore, these two schools have a few things in common. In spite of the geographical isolation, there are a few surprising similarities between the western and the Chinese thoughts on astrology.
It can only be termed as a coincidence. Even though the science of astrology was started and developed in the east, the west was never without its share of astrology. Recently, the trend of reading the daily horoscopes have caught up the western world. Suddenly, the western world has woken up to the possibility of knowing and improving their future with the use of astrology.
More and more westerners have started to believe in the possibility of getting affected by the powerful planets and stars. Western scholars have included the subject of astrology in their research. More and more Indians have started to build their houses according to the principles of Vastu Shashtra. This ancient Indian tradition is also governed by astrological implications. Hindus believe that the overall prosperity and benefits of the occupants is dependant on the Vastu principles while building the house.
Feng shui is one of the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. It is also an off shoot of Chinese Astrology. This again is said to be scientific in nature.

Reading tarot cards is a pastime that has been done centuries ago, which determines possible outcomes and predictions of the future. A tarot deck can come in different themes but is basically made up of the twenty-two major arcana cards and the fifty six minor arcana. Since the early Christian European era, tarot reading was already being done and is still being practiced by aspiring and professional tarot readers today.
I personally have a Pythagorean deck, which differs from other decks as it has mathematical backgrounds incorporated with the cards’ meanings. Each card has its own meaning depending on how the tarot reader interprets the formation of the cards. But despite the difference in deck, reading tarot cards is done by interpreting the images or pictures that dominate the entire body of the card. In reading tarot cards, the cards are placed in a formation called “spreads” which will allow the reader to predict a certain aspect of a person’s life. Commonly used spreads include the Celtic spread, the horseshoe spread, 3-card spread, 1-card spread, the astrological spread, and the teractycs wherein ten cards are arranged in a four-rowed pyramid. There are many other spreads aside from these which the tarot reader can use and arrange his cards the way he sees it fit.
Tarot reading is done to answer questions about anything to do with the person. Whether it would be about love or the future, the cards will either tell you directly the answer or give you a situation which discreetly answers the question. Some tarot decks require you to delve yourself into a spiritual aura and perform certain rituals in order to get an accurate reading. For my Pythagorean deck, the cards need to always be purified by the moonlight, arranged and placed in an acceptable box or bag to keep bad spirits from affecting the cards, and to offer praise to the gods in order to be able to read the tarot spread correctly and accurately. Reading tarot cards doesn’t necessarily mean denouncing your faith or anything of the sort, but a way to know what may be in store for you just as Chinese and love horoscopes do.
Tarot cards can also be used for other purposes. During the 16th century in Europe, tarot cards were used to compose poetry, also called “tarocchi appropriate”, to describe ladies of the court. Psychologists also use tarot cards in representing archetypes or are interpreted as pictorial representations of human development from infancy to adulthood. Some occult schools that specialize in symbolic study use tarot cards as a textbook in their teachings as well. Reading tarot cards does not only have to be for predictions or answering questions regarding future instances, but can also be a way of understanding human beings in general and the way things act and react in this world.
Reading tarot cards can be done if you’re dedicated in learning the basic interpretations of each card. Though it may take some practice and a few trials, reading tarot cards can enhance your ability in interpretation and analysis in certain trivial circumstances.

Horoscopes gives us the guidance to get the picture of what does our day going to look like. Its a sort of prediction but for me its not a prediction. Its only a featured guidance for us in order to keep it ourselves safe and going to the right track. From the dawn of civilization, people have been eager to know the future. If the horoscope tells for example about Aries signs that they get all sick today. The report are throw into lie context because of lot of people having a Birth sign of Aries. Don’t tell me that all of Aries persons can have a sick. So, the Horoscope report for Aries might goes into this “be careful into your health, there are sort of bad weather that might affect your health.” If you analyze, its just a sort of guiding you today for your health in order not to get sick. If we apprehend this thing, Horoscope really affects our daily lives because lot of people serve this thing as their guidance. For them to secure their selves fro any bad lucks.
In generalization, I agree that Horoscope has already take part in our life which affects our lives in many ways such as in our communications, love relationships, career, happiness, etc. For me, in all psychic divination and tools, Horoscope is the only process that we can make believe in those psychic powers or what so ever astrological craft. Therefore, believing in those psychic tools are not bad. Its better also to look forward into it and it will get a tips for them to manage our life in future concept. The VPI Pet Insurance Company (yes, there really is such a thing as pet insurance!) provides timely and updated pet horoscopes. The page for 2008 summarizes the year for all pets as follows:
“This year, pets will discover their role as a constant companion is an important one. In 2008, Mother Nature will play a part in pets’ lives throughout the four seasons.”
The horoscope section of this website also offers a “Pet Education Center” that includes sections on “First Aid For Your Pet”, “First Time Pet Owners”, and “Pet Toxins & Poisons”. The website offers a brief horoscope blurb on the main page, and a link for each zodiac sign to a more comprehensive prediction page.
Clicking on the link for the prediction page for any of the signs brings you to a page that describes the personality of that sign (a very fun read, to compare it to your pet’s personality), as well as the effects of astrological events on the life of your pet during each season of the year. The website is laid out very well, organized cleanly and with very fun graphics.
Cat’s Central
Cat’s & Kittens Central provides a fun web page called Winky’s Pet Horoscopes, which is focused primarily on cats. The page touts Winky’s Pet Horoscopes as “The Internet’s #1 Feline Astrologer!” This web page allows you to view your cat’s monthly horoscope. If you don’t know your cat’s exact birthday, Winy says you can simply use the day your pet came into your life.
Each page for the monthly horoscope of each sign features an adorable photo of a cat given the title the zodiac sign “of the Month.” The horoscopes themselves are tailored specifically for cats and very fun to read. For example, Aries for this month reads:
“The moon is set to eclipse Pluto this month, but you needn’t worry yourself about that – after all, Pluto was a badly drawn cartoon dog and you, being of the feline persuasion, are far removed from such things.”
The humor and wit is great. The website, overall, is somewhat amateurish in design, but it isn’t overrun by ads and it’s very easy to navigate. The well-written horoscopes are definitely the star of the show at this site.
Nikky’s Pet Profiles
Another unique way to commemorate your pet and his or her zodiac sign is through a painted pet portrait utilizing an astrology theme and integrating the pet’s zodiac sign..
Pet portraits are very popular and sweeping the country. Nikky Hughes, of Los Angeles, offers amazing pet portraits that utilize unique backgrounds and themes.
